Miss. A. Cullumbine, Nursery Teacher for Branston Locks Primary & Nursery School

I am delighted and honoured to have been appointed as the Nursery Teacher for Branston Locks Primary and Nursery School. I have had the desire to be a teacher for as long as I can remember, and I feel incredibly lucky to adore my job! I’m excited to be a part of the team and contribute to the development and growth of the school community year on year.

I have spent the last four years as an Early Years Teacher in a Reception class. I am passionate about Early Years and providing children with the best possible start in education, focusing on high-quality learning experiences that ignite their curiosity and joy for lifelong learning. I endeavour to get to know each individual child, so that I can best support their holistic learning and development. It is important to me to create an environment where every child feels valued, supported and empowered to reach their full potential. My classroom will also be full of creativity, fun, hands-on and rich learning opportunities.

As well as having a love of Early Years, my specialist subject is PE. At Branston Locks, I will be taking on the role as PE and English lead. In my previous role as PE lead, I have collaborated with my team to develop a balanced program that offers a variety of activities to develop children’s knowledge, skills and understanding in PE and encourages them to lead active and healthy lifestyles.  I also have a love of reading, like Mrs Bryant and Mrs Gwynn. It’s difficult to chose my favourite book, but it has to be between ‘The Runaway Pea’ and ‘The Gruffalo’! I’m looking forward to developing a curriculum that passes on this love of reading, ignites children’s curiosity in writing and develops their spoken language.

I love the outdoors, both in my spare time and with the children in school. I love forest school and being in the outdoor learning environment. When I’m not at work, you will find me outdoors with my beloved animals, I have a horse called Quasi and 3 dogs – Betty, Coco and Lily.

Building strong relationships with children and families is important to me. I am incredibly excited to embark on this journey, working alongside the wonderful staff and getting to know the lovely children and families at Branston Locks.

School Closed due to snow

Branston Locks Primary and Nursery School is closed today (Friday 9th January) due to the adverse weather conditions.

Having assessed the site and the local area and observed advice from the met office, we have made this decision to ensure the safety of all staff, pupils and families.

Children should spend the day exploring the snow and enjoying it! Then, once they are warm they can practise their spellings, read their reading books and play Numbots.

We look forward to seeing everyone back at school on Monday 12th January.
