VE Day 80 Celebrations

On VE Day, the children learned all about what VE Day was and how important it is as part of our history. It is because of the brave women and men who fought during WWII that we are able to live our peaceful lives today and uphold our British Values of Democracy, Rule of Law, Individual Liberty, Mutual Respect and Tolerance of those of all faiths and beliefs.

We listened to 1940s music as we marched to our street party, held in the playground and decorated with the Union Jack Flag. We waved flags, and cheered before delving into our slap up fish ‘n’ chip lunch, followed by a beautiful Union Jack cake. Thank you to Hannah, our cook who works with Mellors – it was delicious!

Once were back in class, we looked at ration books and medals and photographs, so that we understood a little bit more about WWII.
